Warren Wiegand

Town Board

Warren Wiegand

Warren and his wife Tamah have lived in Gardiner for 25 years. One of the things which they love about Gardiner is its rural character. Warren believes as Gardiner grows over the next 10 years that its rural qualities must be protected by insuring that the key decisions are made by concerned, knowledgeable residents and members of the Town Board, not by outsiders or others trying to advance their self-interest.

Over the last several years Warren has been a leader in campaigns designed to make Gardiner a better place to live and raise a family. As the head of The Library's fund-raising campaign, he and others have raised over $500,000 since 2006. And after years of planning to build a new library, construction will begin this Fall. Warren has also been very active in protecting open space in Gardiner. He played an important role in developing the Town's first Open Space Plan. He worked to pass the $1,500,000 Open Space bond. And, he has been leading the effort to use the bond and other funds to protect open space, by protecting farming and farm land. Also for the last several years, Warren has been a member of Gardiner's Board of Assessment Review and the Town's Financial Oversight Committee.

Prior to selling his business in 2003, Warren had a 30+ year career working for Fortune 500 companies, including Maxwell House Coffee, American Express, and Fleet Bank.

Many of the skills Warren learned in business are relevant to a position on the Town Board:

  • Seeking-out and listening to a range of opinions
  • Analyzing information and finding creative solutions
  • Working with others to develop new programs
  • Communicating new solutions and programs clearly and concisely

Working with all the residents of Gardiner, Warren hopes to contribute to preserving the Town's rural character and insuring that Gardiner remains a great place to live.
